BUYING A NEW PC GAME

How to compare Steam game prices.

A smaller number is useful only when the offer is for the game and version you want. Here is how to read our comparison and check the details before you leave for a store.

Start with the exact release

Our catalog tracks paid Steam releases from 13 October 2026 onward. Open the game page and check its title, developer, release date, screenshots, and PC requirements. Similar names do not prove that two store listings are the same game. We match retailer feeds using the Steam app ID, rather than a title alone.

Compare the edition and activation platform

A Steam game page may have offers from other PC stores. An exact game match does not guarantee the same edition or launcher. A base game, deluxe edition, bundle, and downloadable add-on can include different content. Our retailer feed does not confirm every edition, so those offers say “Verify edition at store.” Read the retailer’s product description and make sure the activation platform is the one you want.

Check region restrictions before currency

The direct Steam offer uses the US storefront and US dollars. Other retailer offers say “Check at store” because the feed does not confirm the activation region. An offer displayed in your currency is not proof that it can be bought or activated in your country. Check the retailer’s region information before purchasing.

Understand the displayed discount

We order offers by their reported current price. A percentage discount compares that offer with the same store’s reported list price. It does not mean every store charges that list price, and it is not proof of the lowest price ever. Taxes, payment charges, regional pricing, and a delayed feed can change the final total.

Use the checked date and price history together

The checked date tells you when we observed an offer. Recorded price history begins when we first track a game; it adds an observation when the lowest listed price changes. The winning store can change between observations. A newly released game may have only one observation, so we show its current price instead of inventing a historical chart.

Treat converted prices as estimates

Our display-currency selector converts source USD prices using dated reference rates. The approximation mark means the amount is an estimate. It changes the display, while the retailer controls its own currency, exchange rate, and final checkout price. If reference rates are temporarily unavailable, we use a dated cache or USD.

Save a game and compare again

Use the heart on a game to save it in this browser. You can revisit the list as offers update without creating an account. Saved games are stored on this device; they are not email alerts and do not reserve a price.
