About CDKeyCheap

CDKeyCheap is an independent PC game price tracker. We read live prices from storefront APIs and present them in one place, so you can see what a game actually costs today before you buy it.

What we do

Game prices move constantly. A title can sit at full price for months and then drop 80% during a seasonal sale, and unless you happen to be looking that day, you miss it. We keep a continuously refreshed record of what PC games cost right now, along with their list price and the size of the current discount, and we make that searchable.

Today our catalogue is built from Steam's public storefront API. We record the title, genres, developer, publisher, release date, screenshots, published system requirements, aggregate user review sentiment, and of course the price. New releases are picked up automatically, and we continuously work backwards through the wider catalogue as well.

How the data is gathered

• Prices come from Steam's own public storefront endpoints — the same numbers shown on the Steam store page.
• We re-check featured and discounted titles frequently, and the rest of the catalogue on a rolling schedule.
• Every game page shows the date its price was last verified. If that date looks old, treat the price as indicative.
• Ratings shown as "Steam reviews" are computed from Steam's public review summary — the share of positive reviews, mapped to a five-point scale. Where we have no review data, we fall back to a Metacritic critic score and label it as such.
• We do not estimate, model, or guess prices, and no store can pay to change how it is ranked.

What we are not

We are not a shop. CDKeyCheap does not sell game keys, does not take payment, and never handles your card or personal details. When you decide to buy, you click through to the official storefront and the entire transaction happens there, under that store's terms.

We are also not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Valve Corporation. Steam and the Steam logo are trademarks of Valve Corporation. We use their public API on the same terms as any other public consumer of it.

How we pay for it

Running a price tracker costs money — servers, bandwidth and time. Our intended model is affiliate commission: when a storefront runs an affiliate programme and we are accepted into it, a link from our site to that store may earn us a small commission on a resulting purchase, at no extra cost to you.

To be completely clear about where we stand today: we currently earn nothing. The Steam links on this site carry no affiliate tracking, because Steam does not operate a public affiliate programme. If and when we add commission-bearing links, they will be disclosed on every page that contains them and described in full in our affiliate disclosure. Commission will never influence which price we show you or how offers are ordered — offers are sorted by price, full stop.

Where we're going

A price comparison with one store in it is really just a price display. The obvious next step is more storefronts, and that is what we are working on: each additional store needs an approved data feed or affiliate integration before its prices can appear here, and we would rather ship one verifiable price than five unverifiable ones.
