For years, mankind has wondered: What's it like to go spelunking in an underground beach as a snail with a gun riding a cloud? This is the question I'm creating SLINGSHELL to answer.
As it turns out, it's quite unlike anything you've probably seen before. See, the cloud gives the snail free flight, but the snail can attack enemies by slingshotting out of the cloud with an invincible ricocheting attack! And after slingshotting away, he can use weapons like a gun, molotov cocktail, or umbrella. ...Just be sure to summon the cloud back to you before you fall into a bottomless pit. Friends look out for each other like that.
The environments you're exploring are pretty wild too. There's a massive cavern underneath the world, where normal rules don't seem to apply: there can be cities, cliff ranges, and even beaches and oceans under the surface. Each environment has its own suite of dangerous enemies and hazards to contend with. The layout of the terrain seems to change every time you explore, so try to get as far as you can before succumbing to the dangers!
Playable Characters
You might think that nothing could be better than a snail and a cloud - and you're right - but there are actually a variety of characters to play as in this game.
Trummel (the snail) and Alto (the cloud) you should be familiar with already. They're easy to pick up thanks to the free-flight, but the slingshot attack demands quick reflexes to avoid falling into danger. (Snails can't jump, after all.) Luckily, you have a faster dashing attack that lets you stay in the cloud... but the slingshot is nice because it has invincibility and lets you fire crazy weapons afterward.
These two have a long history together; in a past life, they were a detective duo. Nowadays, Trummel and Alto spend their time exploring these crazy underground worlds.
Otto is a biker bee who powers through his opposition with raw strength and an awesome motorcycle. He can't fly when he's on his bike, but he does get to run over enemies and do awesome backflips. Otto can even throw his bike as a projectile, freeing him up to fly for a short while and use a shoulder bash!
Orcane from Rivals of Aether appears as a crossover character! Unusually for this game, he has no way to fly freely around the screen... but with his iconic Teleport and Bubble Dash moves, you'll find that with some practice you can get wherever you need to. His attacks also produce bubbles that float up and deal damage over a wide area!
